Although George Segal started his art career as a painter, his best known works are lifesize figures and he pioneered the use of plaster bandages as a sculptural medium, which gave his works a ghostly, melancholic appearance.
This original lithograph is signed, dated and numbered 79/100. It was exhibited by the Redfern Gallery, still an important gallery in Cork Street, London, W1, and was sold to Anthony Oppenheimer on January 10th 1980. It has strong and vibrant colours and an arresting composition. |
