GRAHAM GALLERY Watercolours
Colonel Harold Malet

Officers in the Army and Navy were taught to draw and paint so that they could then provide an important record of the places they served in. Some like Colonel Malet (1841-1918) were very good and continued to sketch for much of their life.

It is likely this watercolour, which dates from circa 1900, was kept in the artist's folio until recently as the colours are still clear and fresh.

(The Gallery acquired this picture with several others by the same hand.)
