Crampton (1905-1985) was a painter of landscapes and coastal subjects, chiefly in watercolour. He lived in East Anglia and was inspired by the villages and open spaces of Norfolk and Suffolk.
He exhibited at the Royal Water-colour Society, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours and Royal Society of British Artists.
He was clearly influenced by Edward Seago and Edward Wesson, both of whom painted in a similar attractive and instantly recog-nisable style and also painted in East Anglia.
Seago's watercolours sell at auction for £3,000 - £5,000 and Wesson from £400 so these fine examples by Crampton represent exceptional value. |
