Thomas Miles Richardson (Jnr)  RWS

Thomas Miles Richardson (1813-90) was the son of T M Richardson, who was a much admired and collected watercolourist. He was born and lived in Newcastle-on-Tyne and was elected member of the prestigious Royal Watercolour Society in 1851. He travelled widely in Scotland, Wales and England and the Swiss and Italian Alps, and exhibited many works at the Royal Academy and the Old Watercolour Society. Examples of his work can be seen in many English and Scottish museums and private collections.

This watercolour shows what a superb draughtsman he was and his use of soft colours exemplifies the tranquility of the scene.
