William Henry Gore was a landscape and figure painter who lived in London (1880) and Newbury, Berkshire (1905). He became an elected member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1893 and exhibited in many of the major galleries including Royal Academy (34), Royal Society of British Artists (99), Royal Institute of Oil Painters (14) and Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour (23).
This is a beautiful, evocative and finely-executed picture with real atmosphere and charm. Graham Gallery has seen another similar scene by the artist but sadly we could not afford to buy both! |
